To be real here, it’s because many people don’t want Lebron to be GOAT so they will have any reason to disqualify him from that conversation.
I’ve seen this graphic posted many times. But Muhammed Ali literally popularized the term GOAT for himself. And to add on to that, other players like Wayne Gretzky called himself “The Great One” and nobody had issues with it.
So lets be real here… whether Lebron called himself the GOAT or not, people won’t have him in the GOAT conversation because they dislike him and they will think of any reason to discredit him and any reason to take him out of the conversation. Calling himself the GOAT is just ammo to use, but if he didn’t they will find other sources of ammo to use as well.
PS: I know Quora is full of relatively intelligent people so Lebron does not get as much hate here as in other social media platforms. You see that 38.4k likes on that instagram post? that’s where the majority of NBA casuals are and they believe stupid shit like this, it’s unfortunate that so much of the public is brainwashed into thinking Kobe is better or that Finals records are the end all be all to judge players but it is what it is. I’m just trying to do my part to try to clear up the mountains of BS designed to discredit Lebron out there.
