Which NBA team has never had an All-Star player on their roster in franchise history? Which team has had the fewest All-Star players on their roster in franchise history, excluding expansion teams?

Every NBA team has had an all-star player in franchise history, it’s nearly impossible not to. At some point you will find a decent enough player in a draft that will put up good enough numbers to be an all-star at least once.

Out of the original teams, my guess is going to be the Atlanta / St Louis Hawks for having the fewest all stars.

They started in 1946, had a period during the late 50s and early 60s where they were making multiple Finals appearances – this era involved all-stars Bob Pettit, Cliff Hagan, Slater Martin, Ed Macauley, Clyde Lovelette, Larry Foust and is to this day still the most successful Hawks era.

Then they had an era in the 60s where Walt Bellamy, Lenny Wilkens and in the 70s Lou Hudson and Pete Maravich were on the team for a bit albeit without much success.

Then they had the Dominique Wilkins era in the 80s with fellow all-stars Kevin Willis, Eddie Johnson and Doc Rivers.

Then in the 90s they had Dikembe Mutombo for a bit and 2000s they had an era where Joe Johnson was the main star and then in the 2010s with Al Horford, Kyle Korver, Paul Millsap, Jeff Teague and the current 2020s era with Trae Young.

So yeah that was pretty much it. In their entire history considering they started all the way back in 1946, who were their biggest stars? Probably Bob Pettit and Dominique Wilkins and a few other hall of famers like Dikembe Mutombo, Pete Maravich, Walt Bellamy, Lenny Wilkens and Cliff Hagan. That’s not that many stars for a franchise with that long of a history. And really the only time they’ve experienced playoff success was during the Pettit era. Which was 60 years ago. Talk about an underperforming franchise.
