I agree with it.
He’s correct. Players are judged way too much on the number of rings they have. But players shouldn’t SOLELY be judged on number of rings – that’s why Robert Horry and Bill Russell aren’t considered better than Jordan and Lebron. But this comment ended up causing a huge stir online predictably because the internet is full of people looking for additional fuel to hate on Lebron.
So in this case, they take the comment out of context to mean that ‘Lebron thinks that rings dont matter’ ‘Lebron’s trying to protect his legacy’ ‘Lebron’s being a hypocrite he went to Miami to chase rings’ etc when they completely missed Bron’s point which is that players shouldn’t be solely judged by rings in the NBA. This should be obvious. To his point Barry Bonds didn’t win ANY world series yet is considered one of the GOATs of baseball. But in basketball he feels that players are judged too much on the rings they have, which is true. This is especially common in the last 10 years since everyone talks about Finals records in order to discredit Lebron’s achievement of going to the Finals.

This is the segment where Stephen A Smith (a noted hater of Lebron) BLASTS Lebron for his comment. And in the comments section? Everyone agrees with SAS it seems.
People on social media just gravitate to hating on Lebron it’s pretty much the norm now. Nobody seems to ever take his side in any debate. Well, except for NBA players.

NBA players seem to agree with Lebron’s comments. It seems like it’s the analysts and casual fans that disagree because they took Bron’s comments out of context and immediately jumped to the ‘hypocrite’ narrative because they were looking for more fuel to hate on him.
The ‘Kobe would never!’ comments are always interesting, I really wonder how this revisionist narrative came about that Kobe is always a ‘winner’ and Bron always a ‘loser’. I wonder if people are aware that Bron actually has a higher winning % both in the regular season and in the playoffs and also owns a 16–6 record against Kobe head to head. And has the exact same gold medals as Kobe in the Olympics while outscoring Kobe in those Olympics. But nowadays, you aren’t allowed to ever touch Kobe with any comment else a legion of people with pitchforks will come at you calling you a hater. Meanwhile for Bron it’s the opposite..
^ these are the type of people that appear all too often online and hate on Bron for literally everything and anything he does. And the guy above really is something.. he talks shit about LeBron and then when you tell him that he’s a hater and not being fair to Bron with his comments he says ‘why are you being so triggered and defensive?’ Uhhh because he provoked people? Imagine punching someone in the face and then asking them why they are defending themselves.
Makes you really wonder how a player who grew up with a single mother, exceeded his insane expectations coming into the NBA, is a devoted husband and raised his kids so well that they actually reached the NBA, with zero public scandals and who gave back to his community in Ohio – is hated this much?
Meanwhile Jordan and Kobe who were known to be assholes to their teammates and had off court issues (Jordan with gambling, Kobe with an infamous rape trial) are somehow much more beloved?? It doesn’t make sense to me. I’m just stating the double standards here but I’m sure people will see this and say that I’m a Bronsexual, as they always do to anyone who dares to stick up for Bron, and also call me a Kobe hater, as they do to anyone who dares say anything negative about Kobe.
This world is messed up as they say, and one of the things I’ll never understand in this world is why unselfish guys like Lebron James is hated this much by so many people and selfish assholes like Jordan and Kobe conversely are revered like some kind of deity and god. The double standards are just insane and crazy to me.
