Points and he looked more flashy. That’s pretty much it. I don’t really know what Kobe does better than Duncan besides raw scoring (because lets face it Duncan is a more efficient scorer).
They also like to bring up that Kobe beat Duncan more in the playoffs. But if we go by series it’s more like this:
1999: Spurs sweep Lakers
2001: Lakers sweep Spurs
2003: Spurs beat Lakers
2004: Lakers beat Spurs
2008: Lakers beat Spurs
So the series is more like 3–2 in favor of the Lakers. And 2–1 in favor of the Spurs if you want to say the series where Duncan was the main player and Kobe was the main player.
But Kobe fans will use 18–12 in the playoffs to make it seem like Kobe was even more dominant vs Duncan. (They will never mention Brons 16–6 record vs Kobe or that Duncan has a better 5–1 Finals record tho)
See all the comments here only prove one thing: Kobe is much more popular than Duncan and has way more fans that will defend him to the death their arguments don’t really make any sense. But casuals are enamored by points and flashy play and Kobe was obviously marketed much better than Duncan (billed as the ‘next’ MJ) so of course he has more fans defending him online. But no put aside the popularity and fanboys, Duncan was superior.
