What are some of the most memorable Game 7 performances in NBA history, and where does LeBron’s 2016 Finals stand among them?

I’ll just talk about Game 7 Finals can’t get more high stakes than that right?

1962 Finals – Bill Russell puts up 30/40/4 to clinch a close series (yes thats right FORTY rebounds) but I also have to mention Baylor’s very respectable 41/22/4 in the loss

1966 Finals – Bill Russell puts up 25/32 to clinch the series and the 8-peat

1969 Finals – Jerry West puts up 42/13/12 in a losing effort and wins FMVP despite the loss

1970 Finals – Walt Frazier puts up 36/7/19 to close out the Finals and win NYK’s first title

1974 Finals – Dave Cowens puts up 28/14/4 to close out the Finals and beats Kareem’s Bucks for their first post Russell title

1978 Finals – The most forgotten about Game 7 Finals performance is from Marvin Webster, who puts up 27/19/1/4 despite the loss

1984 Finals – This one I don’t see outstanding performances from any one player on either team but I’ll go with Magic’s 16/5/15/4/2 who kind of just did everything despite the loss

1988 Finals – clearly Big Game James Worthy with a 36/16/10 to win FMVP and clinch the championship

1994 Finals – Hakeem with 25/10/7/1/3 to win FMVP and secure Houstons first title

2005 Finals – Duncan with 25/11/3/2 to win FMVP and the title

2010 Finals – I’ll actually have to go with Gasol’s 19/18/4/2 because although Kobe scored 4 more points, Gasol was better in every other stat other than pure points

2013 Finals – Bron’s 37/12/4 seals the FMVP and the repeat

2016 Finals – Yes Bron has a great 27/11/11 in this win to finish the 3–1 comeback and win the Cavs their first title but also let me mention Draymonds underrated and forgotten 32/15/9 performance who would have certainly gotten FMVP if the Warriors had prevailed.

2025 Finals – SGA’s 29/5/12 seals the deal and OKC’s first title

Overall, I’d say Bron’s 2016 Game 7 performance while great – isn’t particularly outstanding stat wise given that so many all time greats have had amazing Game 7 performances. I actually think Draymond might have had an even better game to be honest and Bron had arguably an even better Game 7 Finals vs the Spurs in 2013. What makes Bron’s 2016 Game 7 more memorable is the context – completing the first 3–1 comeback in NBA Finals history against a team with the all time regular season wins.
