에,에서 (location, time)

location/time + 에/에서

에 is a particle used to mark location, time or other static situations.
에서 is used to mark locations where some action is happening.
에 roughly corresponds to ‘at,to,in,of,by’, and it usually attached to the location or situation it is marking.
에서 is used the same way, except an action or event is happening there.


가요 = I am going to my home.

에서 먹어요 = I eat at home.

몇시 가요? = What time are you going?

한국에서 살아요. = I live in Korea.

에서,부터,까지 (from, to)

Place + 에서
Time + 부터
place/time + 까지

에서 and 부터 means from, and 까지 means to or until.
These particles are attached after a noun, with 에서 being used more with location and 부터 used more with time, and 까지 used as to (for location) and until (for time).


한국에서 미국까지 = From Korea to USA

아침부터 저녁까지 = From morning to evening
