Grammar Lesson 3 Korean

(ㄹ/을)까요? (wonder, suggestion)

AV + (ㄹ/을)까요?

When we are curious about something, or making a suggestion, the ending (ㄹ/을)까요? is used.
This ending can only be used for interrogatives (questions).
To make this ending, we conjugate the verb with ㄹ if the ending is a vowel and 을 if the ending is a consonant and add 까요? to the end.
With verbs ending in ㄹ already, we don’t need to add ㄹ/을.

1. This ending is used when we ask ourselves a question or other people a question expressing curiosity or wondering about something.

2. This ending is used when we want to suggest doing something to someone.

3. The 반말 ending is (ㄹ/을)까?

내일 비가 올까요? – Will it rain tomorrow?
