Exams finally over!

So I just finished my last exam which was ECO200…and what a doozy of an exam. So much for wanting to get 90 on it…I just hope I can pass that one. My goal is to still get a > 2.5 GPA even though it now looks increasingly unlikely. In order to push through my agenda this summer, which includes:

-PEY @ Environment Canada, which takes up 10 am – 6 pm of my working week.
Anime North 2009 Cosplay ideas
Possible CSC494 summer course
Season of Usability
-More youtube videos and other media to come.

Well, I plan to stay busy during the summer – from my experiences learning from both my own work habits and other people’s work habits, the three most important skills to have is discipline, confidence and patience. Discipline is an adherence to your values and to your work, it increases productivity and generally when we say someone is hard-working, they are disciplined. Confidence is your motivation and your inspiration for going the extra mile. It allows you to be more involved and helps your relationships and impressions with other people. Patience is key for good timing and Good timing is an essential in order to have in order to be efficient and “lucky” which helps everything out in the long run.

In general, I believe adherence to these three principles is essential for achieving success and high goals, and it is something that I will improve on and work on throughout my life.

Studying and moving on

Exams are coming up, all of my exams are from 9-11 am and I have two coming up starting tomorrow. What fun. I think I am doing better as an individual at managing my time, though. Hard work and discipline are the keys to success, something I’ve learned from my other hard-working CS colleagues as well.

I didn’t get into the GSoC program, but there were several other proposals similar to mine which did get accepted, so I congratulate those individuals. On the other hand, it was unlikely that I would have free time for it anyways, seeing as how I have PEY during the summer. On that subject, I am considering doing other work in addition to PEY. Summer courses, projects, other jobs perhaps? I need to flesh out a better plan for myself. See, I don’t plan on playing video games all day during the summer, and I need to pay off my debts, student loans, rent, transportation costs, etc. Web development might be another option like last summer, people always seem to have those types of work for me.

Just how fast and how far will I come after these experiences? Only time will tell.

The simple summer life

Easter monday is lovely..the weather has been lovely recently as well. Came back from stress reducing rounds of drinking and gambling =). So, now that classes are over, I’ve had more time to relax and indulge in some good consumerism.

Things to buy this summer: New amp that doesn’t hum all the time, new modded xbox to replace my broken one, LCD TV for that new modded xbox, new laptop to replace unreliable and slow Asus, possibly new docking station for that laptop, possibly some new pedals, possibly a piano, possibly a digital camera, possibly a smartphone.

Things to sell this summer: G&L/Fender Hybrid strat, Epiphone valve jr, Netbook.

On another note, I’ve accepted a job offer from Environment Canada. So I’ll be the one making sure that the weather doesn’t get all crazy again. You can blame me for it =). I’m also thinking of taking on some projects and/or summer courses as well depending on how work-intensive the afore-mentioned job will be.

Possibly going to AN 2009 as well depending on who I can get to go with me. That’s my plans for the summer…we’ll see how things go. In the meantime, I have three exams to study for…
