How strong (or weak) was Kobe’s 2009-10 team compared to other teams at the time, and their opponents at the finals?

It was the best team in the league.

I mean.. Kobe fan’s make it look like Kobe was carrying a bunch of nobodies to victory against insurmountable odds or something. That’s not the case at all.

That’s a 57 win team with Kobe, Pau Gasol, Derek Fisher, Metta World Peace, Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom coming off the bench. That’s a very good team.

Who were their opponents? OKC (the TRUE baby OKC), Jazz (Deron + Boozer), Suns (Nash + Stoudemire) and the Big 3 Celtics.

First of all, Kobe fans make it look like he beat the toughest gauntlet of teams ever en route to the Finals. Baby OKC, Deron/Boozer Jazz and Nash Suns is that really the toughest conference ever? They’re GOOD teams but not all time great or something.

Then let’s look at the Big 3 Celtics… Pierce was at the end of his prime. KG was post surgery and near the end of his prime. Ray Allen was still effective although a third wheel. Rondo was decent but not his peak self yet. That’s still a good team but as good as Kobe’s Lakers? I don’t think so. However despite that, in the 2010 Finals the Lakers still needed 7 games to beat them.. Kendrick Perkins was out for a game.. Ron Artest hit a clutch 3… Odom and Gasol had to rebound as if their life depended on it… just for them to barely beat them.

…and Kobe takes all the credit and acts as if he single handedly beat them. And Kobe fans act as if he did the impossible. And then Bron does literally the same thing beating that team in 5 games the next playoffs and nobody says a thing about it.
