This is Kobe vs Duncan head to head. What you’ll notice is Duncan beats Kobe more in regular season, Kobe beats Duncan more in the playoffs. The stats are closer than you would think especially if you look at the game highs. Duncan actually averages 2 more PPG compared to his regular season 19 PPG vs Kobe while Kobe’s PPG only goes up 0.5 PPG.
But yeah you can guess which stat Kobe fans always bring up – the 18–12 playoffs one. Which if we put it into series is 4–2 in favor of the Lakers (2001, 2002, 2004, 2008). Note that for 3 of these 4 series wins, Lakers definitely had the superior team – Duncan was dealing with Robinson on his last legs, and Parker and Manu were barely developed at that time.
But yeah Kobe fans always use this playoffs record and Kobe scoring more to say that Kobe is better. Typical casual talk. They will never bring up Kobe vs Bron’s record or Duncan’s better Finals record (5–1) because it doesn’t fit their narrative. They only bring up the stats that make Kobe look good of course.
