The Acoustune HS2000MX MKIII is the third iteration of Acoustune’s flagship and it opts for a slightly more balanced tuning compared to the treble focused super bright MK1/MK2. It is a single DD IEM that retails for $3000 USD. My source used for review is the Lotoo Paw Gold Touch.
The packaging impresses with a nice Japanese wood box (Japanese sure love their wood!),thick copper cable, leather case and 12 pairs of eartips – which Acoustune is well regarded for making.
Unlike most IEMs, the Acoustune has swappable modules – it comes stock with the ACT47 silver module.
Bass:
The bass has got good punch and depth to it and decent subbass extension. It won’t wow bassheads as it’s not so much in quantity, but it’s not too lean either. It’s probably got the right amount of bass where it’s enough to feel the texture, without overdoing it.
Mids:
The mids are decent and well detailed, they do not sit too far behind the mix nor are they too forward, they are probably neutral in where they sit in the mix and Acoustune does a good job of showing off their mids without making it too shouty or in your face
Treble:
The treble has lots of good energy and are a bit on the bright side. You can tell the HS2000MX heritage from MK1/MK2 here as it retains the detailed resolving treble from those but unlike MK1/MK2 it doesn’t push it too forward or sound too harsh, but reins it back just a little bit to where it doesn’t get too fatiguing. For this reason, I much prefer the treble on MK3 the best.
Technicals:
Above average soundstage width and height – on par with some $4k IEMs like Multiverse Mentor or Forte Macbeth. Details (esp in the treble) are top notch – think Noble Viking Ragnar level. You cannot say anything but that HS2000MX MKIII has top tier technicals.
Overall, Acoustune has released their best tuned HS2000MX yet, and for those who are looking for a nice upgrade to Mysticraft Myth (except with better mids and technicals) should check this out, or alternatively those looking for Noble Viking Ragnar or 64 Tia Fourte but without as much of a treble peak and same detailed technicalities can give it a listen. It’s a unique looking IEM with swappable modules, built like a tank and has top tier technicalities and detail. Definitely one of the Japanese IEMs to keep an eye out on for summit fi level.
